Joint pain and stiffness are among the most common ailments affecting people as they age, often diagnosed as Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis. Modern medicine frequently manages these symptoms with pain relievers, which can have long-term side effects. Ayurveda, however, offers a holistic path to reclaim mobility by addressing the root cause.

According to Ayurvedic texts, joint issues are categorized into two types: 1. Vata-Related Joint Pain (Sandhigata Vata): Caused by an excess of Vata dosha, leading to dryness, depletion of synovial fluid, and wear-and-tear of cartilage. 2. Toxin-Related Joint Pain (Amavata): Caused by accumulation of Ama (undigested metabolic waste) that settles in the joint cavities, triggering inflammation and swelling.

Ayurvedic therapies such as Janu Basti (retaining warm medicated oil on the knees), Patra Pinda Sweda (massage with heated herbal bags), and internal administration of anti-inflammatory herbs like Guggulu, Shallaki, and Ashwagandha help lubricate the joints, reduce swelling, and stop further degeneration.
